At least 1,000 pupils in just one UK city will have to stay at home this week as a result of staff shortages from coronavirus.
A number of teachers at schools in Derby have been told to self-isolate at home, meaning some students will have to study remotely.
It comes after the Government vowed to keep schools open across the country during the month-long national lockdown due to start on Thursday.
However, the top teachers' union - the NEU - has demanded the Government close schools during the shutdown, the Derby Telegraph reports.
