Taylor Alison Swift is an American singer-songwriter. She is known for narrative songs about her personal life, which have received widespread media coverage. At age 14, Swift became the youngest artist signed by the Sony/ATV Music publishing house and, at 15, she signed her first record deal.

Her 2006 eponymous debut album was the longest-charting album of the 2000s in the US. Its third single, "Our Song", made her the youngest person to single-handedly write and perform a number-one song on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart. Swift's second album, Fearless, was released in 2008.

Buoyed by the pop crossover success of the singles "Love Story" and "You Belong with Me", it became the US' best-selling album of 2009 and was certified diamond in the US. The album won four Grammy Awards, and Swift became the youngest Album of the Year winner.

Taliban bans 'filthy' TikTok for 'wasting people's time' and 'misleading youngsters'

Taliban regime in Afghanistan will ban TikTok and a popular videogame in a major clampdown on 'immoral' entertainment.A spokesperson for the Taliban said the government had instructed the Ministry of Communications to block the popular video app because it "misleads the younger generation" and "publishes immoral material and programs."Inamullah Samangani said that TikTok's "filthy content is not consistent with Islamic laws", and that the popular battle royale game PUBG: Battlegrounds will also be banned for "wasting people's time"."The ministry of communications and information technology was ordered to remove the apps from internet servers and make them inaccessible to everyone in Afghanistan," he said.

It is the first time the Taliban have banned an app since taking power last August. With many forms of entertainment banned, Afghan teens were reportedly turning to TikTok for their fix of short, funny clips.The Taliban has clamped down on many different aspects of culture, in accordance with its own strict version of Islamist law.Although it initially promised a softer approach to government when it came to power last year, the Taliban has banned drivers from playing music in their cars and stopped women from travelling more than 45 miles without a male family member.The Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice previously banned TV channels from showing dramas and soap operas featuring women actors, and forced TV reporters to wear hijabs while presenting.

Girls have also been banned from secondary education.The UK is still yet to recognise the Taliban as the official government of Afghanistan, after it took power in a 'hostile takeover' following the withdrawal of US and NATO forces from the country.
