Dave Chappelle covers Radiohead’s ‘Creep’ with Foo Fighters for second time
Foo Fighters once again brought Dave Chappelle on stage for a cover of Radiohead’s ‘Creep’ during the Taylor Hawkins Tribute Concert in Los Angeles last night (September 27).After celebrating Hawkins’ memory and music with a special six-hour gig in London earlier this month (September 3), ‘The Taylor Hawkins Tribute Concert’ took over LA’s Kia Forum on Tuesday evening, with a bounty of special guests. One of these was Dave Chappelle, who repeated the trick of covering Radiohead’s classic ‘Creep’ with Foo Fighters at their huge gig at Madison Square Garden in New York City last summer.Check out last night’s performance of ‘Creep’ below.Earlier in the show, Miley Cyrus teamed up with Foo Fighters and Def Leppard for an expansive version of Def Leppard’s 1983 hit ‘Photograph’ while Justin Hawkins took to the stage with late Foo Fighters drummer’s side project, The Coattail Riders, to perform a four-song set.Last night’s tribute gig started with an acoustic performance of ‘Hallelujah’ by Grohl’s daughter, Violet, featuring Alain Johannes. That was followed by a short set from the surviving Foos, Blink-182’s Travis Barker and Joan Jett, who performed two of the latter’s biggest hits from the ‘80s.Elsewhere, Pink joined forces with Foo Fighters and Queen to perform a rousing cover of ‘Somebody To Love’ – the song that Hawkins covered himself over the years.

Warner Music Group becomes first major label to adopt fan-powered royalties system
SoundCloud, who last year announced that it’d be the first music platform to direct the fees of its paying subscribers to the artists they stream.SoundCloud said that it was “a more equitable and transparent way for independent artists who monetise directly with SoundCloud to get paid”.It’s an approach that’s been previously backed by many musicians who have criticised the economics of online streaming.Leading streaming services such as Spotify and Apple Music currently operate on a system where royalty payments are distributed in accordance with which artists have the most plays. But it has been criticised by smaller and up-and-coming acts, who claim that the system allows huge global names to generate vast amounts of money while leaving little for musicians who have not achieved similar success. Now, it’s been confirmed that Warner Music Group has implemented SoundCloud’s royalty system. Each artist credited with having earned royalties from a particular recording will earn a share based solely on each stream of that specific release. However, Far Out Magazine cites the results of a recent report by Media Research which found that 56 per cent of artists surveyed were making more revenue by using SoundCloud’s old pro-rata model rather than the new one.Numerous other major streaming platforms – including Spotify and Apple Music – are currently still using the pro-rota model.Upon SoundCloud introducing the fan-powered system, the company’s chief executive officer Michael Weissman said: “Many in the industry have wanted this for years.

Watch The Smile’s stop-motion animated video for ‘Thin Thing’
The Smile have shared the video for their new single ‘Thin Thing’ – watch below. The band – comprising Thom Yorke, his Radiohead bandmate Jonny Greenwood and Sons of Kemet drummer Tom Skinner – formed last year and announced their debut album, ‘A Light For Attracting Attention’ last month.‘Thin Thing’ follows ‘You Will Never Work In Television Again’, ‘The Smoke’,  ‘Skrting On The Surface’ and ‘Pana-vision’, a track taken from the Peaky Blinders soundtrack. It arrives with a stop-motion animated video directed by Cristóbal León and Joaquín Cociña, which took the pair six months to make.Speaking about the video, they said: “Hearing the song for the first time, we imagined a frenetic fluid that carries machines, pieces of human bodies and carnivorous plants.“When presenting the idea to the band, Thom told us about a dream that made him write the song. We believe the video is the conjunction of these two things.”‘A Light For Attracting Attention’ arrives this Friday (May 13) digitally, and June 17 physically, via XL Recordings.Produced and mixed by Nigel Godrich and mastered by Bob Ludwig, the 13-track album will feature strings by the London Contemporary Orchestra and a full brass section of contemporary UK jazz players including Byron Wallen, Theon and Nathaniel Cross, Chelsea Carmichael, Robert Stillman and Jason Yarde.
