Laufey‘s new album ‘Bewitched’ has broken numerous records since it was released last month.The album broke a record on Spotify, recording the biggest first day for a jazz album on the streamer in history.It also debuted at Number 23 on the all-genre Billboard 200, marking Laufey’s first appearance on the chart, and is still comfortably sitting in the top 100 almost a month on from release.The album’s lead single ‘From The Start’ also proved massively successful, clocking up 1 million streams in less than 24 hours upon release and gaining a further 1.75million streams a day since. With that, it has become, currently, the most-streamed jazz song in the world.Speaking to NME The Cover earlier this year, Laufey explained why she was drawn to explore ideas about love, relationships and romanticising one’s own life on the album.““I think love makes everyone really silly,” Laufey says.

Laufey’s blend of jazz, classical and pop influences are on full display in her concert film, A Night At The Symphony: Hollywood Bowl.Directed by Sam Wrench, who helmed Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour, the film sees the singer-songwriter perform alongside the Los Angeles Philharmonic orchestra at the prestigious open-air venue.The performance, which took place in August 2024, comes after she won the Grammy for Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album for her second studio album, ‘Bewitched’, earlier this year.Speaking about the film at the premiere, Laufey said: “There’s so many cities that I haven’t been able to play in and so many people that I haven’t been able to reach. And I think that was one of the main reasons I really wanted to do this… I think this is a fun way to be able to experience the concert in a more accessible way and still hopefully be able to be among other fans and breathe in the community.“It’s getting rarer and rarer to see young people at the symphony, and to be able to bring it to young audiences and to my audience in this very accessible way is hopefully inspiring.”The film was released in select cinemas worldwide on Friday, December 6, 2024.

Beabadoobee and Laufey have teamed up on a new single ‘A Night to Remember’ – listen to the song below.The song marks the first time that British-Filipino singer-songwriter Beabadoobee and Icelandic-Chinese jazz musician Laufey have worked together.“I’ve been writing with a lot of different rhythms recently, also with strings and nods to more classical sounds,” said Beabadoobee. “Laufey is a great fit for this sound and we had started hanging out in London so we got in the studio together to work on music and try ideas with my producer Jacob Bugden.

LE SSERAFIM member Huh Yunjin has shown for love for Icelandic-Chinese singer-songwriter Laufey.Over the weekend, LE SSERAFIM’s Huh Yunjin said on fan community platform Weverse that she would “love to” cover a song by Laufey.
