BLACKPINK singer Jennie has revealed that she has new solo music in the works.In her cover interview for the October 2023 edition of Harper’s Bazaar Korea, the K-pop idol and actress shared that she is preparing to release new music, teasing that it will be “unique”.“I’m making a song that’s by Jennie, the most Jennie and something unique that is only Jennie’s,” she told the magazine per Korea JoongAng Daily. It will be her first official release outside of the group since her November 2018 debut single ‘Solo’.So far, the only other solo material Jennie has unveiled is the song ‘You & Me (Moonlight)’, which she began performing on BLACKPINK’s ‘Born Pink’ world tour from last year, though it has yet to see an official release.However, she collaborated with The Weeknd and Lily-Rose Depp earlier this year on the song ‘One Of The Girls’ for the soundtrack of HBO series The Idol, which she also starred in.The news comes amid BLACKPINK’s discussions for contract renewal with their longtime agency YG Entertainment.

During the show, Jennie left the stage in the middle of performing ‘Lovesick Girls’, and did not return for the rest of the concert.Her label YG Entertainment then informed fans that the singer “was unable to complete the stage due to her deteriorating condition”, extending an apology to fans in attendance at the concert.Now, Jennie has spoken to Dua Lipa on the latter’s At Your Service podcast about how being placed as the rapper of the group led to difficulties for her.“I know one of the reasons you became a rapper is because you spoke English, so you got assigned the rap parts and you’ve obviously really grown into that rap role in BLACKPINK, it’s something that the fans love you for,” Dua told Jennie.

YG Entertainment have fallen amid uncertainties over BLACKPINK‘s contract renewals.Yesterday (July 12), South Korean news outlet Munhwa Ilbo reported that BLACKPINK member Lisa had yet to come to an agreement about a contract renewal with YG Entertainment. It also alleged that Lisa was unlikely to renew her contract with the K-pop agency.Soon after the report, YG Entertainment responded in a statement, saying that “contract renewals are currently under discussion”, though it did not specify which members it was referring to.On the same day stocks of YG Entertainment, listed on the Korea Exchange, fell over six per cent by the end of trading day, closing at ₩74,300.

YG Entertainment has given an update on the contract renewal progress for popular K-pop girl group BLACKPINK.Earlier today (July 12), South Korean news outlet Munhwa Ilbo reported that BLACKPINK member Lisa had yet to come to an agreement about a contract renewal with YG Entertainment. The outlet also alleged that it was likely that Lisa would not renew her contract with the K-pop agency following the expiration of BLACKPINK’s contracts in August.Munhwa Ilbo also cited an anonymous Chinese agency, who told the publication: “We have been working with Lisa and YG Entertainment to see if she can appear on our show, but they have told us that it is difficult to discuss any schedules past August due to uncertainty with contract renewals,” as translated by Koreaboo.Elsewhere in its report, the news agency also claimed that the contract renewal processes for the remaining three BLACKPINK members – namely Jennie, Jisoo and Rosé – are proceeding smoothly, citing an industry insider.YG Entertainment has since responded to Munhwa Ilbo.
