BLACKPINK singer Rosé has teased that she has new music coming in the “not-too-distant future”, following the announcement of her new record deal.BLACKPINK’s Rosé recently addressed her new record deal with South Korean label The Black Label in an Instagram post, where she apologised to fans for “the long wait” on news about her solo career. “I know some of you have been very eager to hear from me for a while.”With her new deal with The Black Label, Rosé became the final member of BLACKPINK to set a path for her solo career after the girl group decided not to renew their individual contracts with YG Entertainment.

BLACKPINK singer Rosé has officially signed to The Black Label, headed by the K-pop group’s longtime producer Teddy Park.Today (June 18), The Black Label confirmed in a press statement to SportsWorldi, via Soompi, that BLACKPINK’s Rosé had signed a “management contract” with the K-pop agency “based on deep trust between [The Black Label founder and] producer Teddy Park and artist Rosé”.“Rosé is currently preparing to meet global fans with new music, and she plans to engage in music activities worldwide in collaboration with a global record label going forward,” the label added. “We promise to provide full support to ensure that Rosé can be active in various fields.”Notably, Teddy Park has been the producer behind BLACKPINK’s biggest hits, including ‘Pink Venom’, ‘How You Like That’, ‘Kill This Love’ and more.

YG Entertainment has refuted reports that it spent US$30million on BLACKPINK‘s contract renewals.According to a business report released by the company on March 22, YG Entertainment had stated a KRW41.2billion (about US$30million) sum for intangible assets last year.Per Korea JoongAng Daily, this is an accounting practice commonly used by music labels in South Korea when funds are needed for contract renewals. Of note, last year YG Entertainment had secured the contract renewal of K-pop girl group BLACKPINK for group activities, following a months-long negotiation process.However, YG Entertainment has since denied that all the funds were used for that purpose, in a statement to Korea JoongAng Daily. “There were various other contract renewals as well as new contracts formed over various intellectual property,” a YG Entertainment spokesperson said.The label added that it “cannot disclose the contract details”, but noted that “the amount in question cannot be considered exclusive to BLACKPINK’s contract extension”.In the same report, Korea JoongAng Daily also noted that YG Entertainment said that it is “planning” for group activities from BLACKPINK.

BLACKPINK have officially joined Spotify’s ‘Billions Club’ with their hit 2020 single ‘How You Like That’.BLACKPINK’s ‘How You Like That’ crossed one billion streams earlier this week, becoming the first K-pop girl group to reach this milestone. Notably, group member Lisa had previously made it to the list in September 2023 with her viral solo song ‘Money’.The song has since been added into Spotify’s official ‘Billions Club’ playlist, alongside other hit tracks that have also surpassed one billion streams on the music platform.

BLACKPINK have not renewed their individual contracts with YG Entertainment.Today (December 29), YG Entertainment announced in a statement to South Korean news outlet Xsportsnews that the four members of K-pop girl group BLACKPINK – Jennie, Jisoo, Rosé and Lisa – would not be renewing their individual contracts with the agency.“We have agreed not to proceed with additional contracts for [the members’] individual activities,” YG Entertainment said, as translated by Soompi. “We will do our utmost to support BLACKPINK’s activities, and we will cheer on the members’ individual activities with warm hearts.”The news comes just days after Jennie launched her own label, Odd Atelier (OA).
