BLACKPINK‘s Rosé recently covered of Wham!‘s iconic holiday hit ‘Last Christmas’ during her recent appearance on BBC’s Radio 1 Live Lounge.BLACKPINK singer Rosé appeared as a guest on the series’ latest episode, shared on YouTube on December 3.
She performed two songs during her appearance on the show: ‘APT.’, her hit single with Bruno Mars, and ‘Last Christmas’ by Wham!
in celebration of the holidays.Rosé’s stripped-down take on ‘Last Christmas’ arrives on the song’s 40th anniversary, and was performed live accompanied by back-up singers, a drummer and a keyboardist. “Last Christmas, I gave you my heart / But the very next day, you gave it away / This year, to save me from tears / I’ll give it to someone special,” she sings.Her guest appearance on the Radio 1 Live Lounge also comes days before the Australian-Korean singer is due to drop her debut solo album ‘rosie’.
She has so far released two single from the record: ‘APT.’ and ‘number one girl’, the former having been recently named by NME as one of the best songs of 2024.‘number one girl’ credits Bruno Mars as a co-producer, and is a track she described as “disgustingly vulnerable”, inspired by hate comments she read. “I realised how vulnerable and addicted I was to this [online] world and that craving for feeling like I wanted to be loved and understood,” Rosé said.Rosé also previously teased another upcoming track titled ‘toxic till the end’ in an Apple Music podcast preview.
