BAFTA, who have said they stand by their decision to suspend the actor’s membership.Clarke filed a defamation lawsuit against BAFTA in May this year, after the British Academy suspended his membership and revoked an honorary award following allegations of sexual harassment and bullying made by 20 women. He has previously strenuously denied any sexual misconduct or criminal wrongdoing.After having four months to confirm whether he was proceeding with his legal case after it was filed in May, the Academy announced the lawsuit has now been dropped.In a statement (via The Hollywood Reporter), a BAFTA spokesperson said: “We note that Noel Clarke has dropped his legal action against BAFTA.

Will Smith’s Oscars slap while hosting the 2022 BAFTA TV Awards.The comedian presented the show on Sunday (May 8) at the Royal Festival Hall in London, where he referred to Will Smith’s altercation with Chris Rock during his opening monologue.Speaking to the audience, Ayoade said: “BAFTA is celebrating 75 years at the heart of our industry, even though industries don’t have hearts.“In 1955, there were only six categories. Barely enough time to get up from your seat and slap someone before the whole ceremony would be over.”He added: “Do not worry your overly-filmed heads, I’m not going to use your faces as punchlines or punchbags, you’ve suffered enough.

BAFTA for defamation following its decision to suspend his membership amid allegations of sexual harassment and bullying.In an exposé published by The Guardian in April 2021, the Bulletproof actor was accused by 20 women of a variety of wrongdoings including bullying, sexual harassment and unwanted sexual contact.The claims emerged shortly after Clarke won the Outstanding British Contribution To Cinema award at the BAFTAs 2021. It was reported that the Academy had been made aware of the allegations prior to giving Clarke the prize but took the decision to proceed due to a lack of evidence.However, BAFTA subsequently suspended the award and revoked the actor’s membership.Clarke has denied all claims through his lawyers except for one, accepting that he once made inappropriate comments about one woman for which he later apologised.According to The Sunday Times (via Deadline), Clarke filed a defamation lawsuit against BAFTA at London’s High Court last week.

Landscapers and We Are Lady Parts led the winners at the BAFTA Television Craft Awards 2022 tonight (April 24), which celebrates behind-the-scenes talent in the British TV industry.The awards were given out at an in-person ceremony at London’s The Brewery – the TV Craft Awards’ first in-person ceremony since the pandemic.The Sky Atlantic mini-series Landscapers and Channel 4 comedy-drama We Are Lady Parts both picked up three awards each.

It’s A Sin leading the pack.BAFTA announced the nominations today (March 30) ahead of the TV Craft Awards ceremony on April 24 at London’s Royal Festival Hall.Russell T Davies’ Channel 4 limited series It’s A Sin has come out on top with 11 nominations, including nods for directing, editing, scripted casting, writing, and several acting awards.Landscapers, starring Olivia Colman and David Thewlis, closely follows with a nomination for Thewlis as well as five Craft nominations including original music, production design, photography & lighting fiction.Several more Channel 4 projects impressed the jury, with six nods for Help, Time and We Are Lady Parts.

CODA on deaf culture at the BAFTAs 2022.Kotsur, who made history by becoming the first deaf actor to win Best Supporting Actor at the BAFTAs for his role as Frank Rossi, spoke to NME on the red carpet about how the Apple TV film has opened up the world to the deaf perspective.“I feel like CODA has had a tremendous impact on the world and hearing people are beginning to see a new perspective, to really have an authentic birds-eye-view into deaf culture, ASL and what a child of a deaf adult means and that experience,” Kotsur said.“And really remind people all over to cherish their families because a lot of people have passed away and lost their lives during the pandemic – that’s been a tremendous impact – and so our film can now remind people you can have a feel good message, you can feel inspired. Everybody’s Talking About Jamie have opened up about how Lady Gaga got them through the COVID-19 pandemic.The screen adaptation of the hit musical was released last year, and is based on the true story of British drag queen Jamie Campbell, with Max Harwood taking on the role of the titular character.At last night’s (March 13) BAFTAs, the film was up for the Outstanding British Film of the Year award, nominated alongside the likes of Lady Gaga’s House Of Gucci.Speaking to NME on the red carpet ahead of the ceremony, the real-life Campbell – who cameos in Everybody’s Talking About Jamie – spoke on his love for Gaga, admitting he listened to her 2020 album ‘Chromatica’ a lot during the pandemic.“It really got me through a dark time during COVID,” he explained.
