Symptom app shows UK at 16,000 coronavirus cases a day after 'alarming' surges

mirror.co.ukMore than 16,000 people are catching the coronavirus each day, according to the latest Covid Symptom Study app figures. Analysts crunching numbers from the app, which has been downloaded by more than four million Brits, believe that 147,498 people now have Covid-19 in the UK.
That number, which does not include long-term sufferers, is significantly more than double the 69,686 people who had the disease last week.
They have also calculated that there were 16,130 new daily symptomatic cases in the UK in the two weeks up to September 20. That figure excludes care homes yet is still significantly higher than the number of daily confirmed cases.
