Good Morning Britain's regular programming was interrupted as hosts Susanna Reid and Richard Madeley announced a heartbreaking incident.

On the morning of Tuesday (October 22), the ITV hosts shared the tragic news of a fatal train collision in Wales involving two trains.

Richard confirmed that one person had lost their life and another 15 were injured in the severe accident. Susanna stated: "Good morning; it is eight o'clock, and breaking news this morning.

A Large-scale emergency services operation, including fire and rescue and the coastguard, is underway in Wales following a rail collision involving two trains." Richard continued: "One man has died, and another 15 were injured when the Transport for Wales service to and from Shrewsbury crashed on a single track line last night." The incident took place near Llanbrynmair, located on the route between Shrewsbury and Machynlleth, at around 7:30pm the previous evening (October 22).
