Susanna Reid was close to tears as she read out a special message from Kate Garraway to her fans, thanking them for their support after the sad death of her husband, Derek Draper.

Derek, 56, was critically ill after suffering a heart attack over the festive period, brought on after he suffered with complications from Covid-19 for the past three years.

In a statement announcing his death on Friday, 5 January, Kate revealed she and the children she shares with Derek, daughter Darcey, 17, and son William, 14, were there with him in his final moments.

On Monday, 8 January, Susanna and her GMB co-presenter Richard Madeley addressed Derek's death on the ITV breakfast show. At the start of the show, Susanna told viewers: "Good morning everybody.
