The founding members of the Super League believed they had the support of FIFA after holding talks with football's governing body, according to reports.

12 of Europe's biggest clubs - including the Premier League's 'Big Six' - set up the breakaway division last month. The elitist competition ring-fenced the involvement of those teams and was met with enormous backlash from football fans, pundits and wider society.
