A mum was left stunned after giving birth to a set of 'one in a million' twins with different skin colours. Chantelle Broughton, 29, says she is constantly asked "are they both yours?" since welcoming son Ayon and daughter Azirah into the world back in April.Born at Nottingham City Hospital, Ayon has green eyes and fair complexion, while Azirah has brown eyes and a much darker skin tone.
Genetic experts have estimated such births are a million to one, Hull Live reports.Chantelle is mixed race and has a Nigerian maternal grandad but looks white, whereas the tots' dad Ashton, also 29, is of Jamaican and Scottish heritage.
The mum-of-three says that the twins looked similar at birth, but as they grew, Azirah's complexion started getting "darker and darker".She says the four-month-old twins now have "totally opposite" personalities but seem to be getting on well.
Chantelle, an auxiliary nurse from Nottingham, said: "I’m so glad they came out the way they are - our own unique little family."Azirah was slightly darker at birth but you couldn’t really tell.
