Steven George Gerrard MBE (born 30 May 1980) is an English professional football manager and former player who manages Scottish Premiership club Rangers.
He spent the majority of his playing career as a central midfielder for Liverpool, with most of that time spent as club captain, as well as captaining the England national team. Widely regarded as one of the greatest midfielders of all time,
Gerrard was awarded the UEFA Club Footballer of the Year award in 2005, and the Ballon d'Or Bronze Award. In 2009, Zinedine Zidane and Pelé said that they considered Gerrard to be the best footballer in the world.
Under-pressure Steven Gerrard 's future was thrown into further doubt as Aston Villa fans chanted for him to be sacked. The former Rangers boss has mustered just one win from his last eight Premier League outings as Fulham lead his 10-man side 3-0 at Craven Cottage.
Rumours circulated earlier this week that Villa were poised to part company with their manager - a claim they flatly denied - and replace him with out-of-work former Tottenham and Paris Saint-German boss Mauricio Pochettino.
But the ex-Liverpool captain remained in post for a trip south to London in search of a spark to ignite Villa's season. But Fulham bossed the opening 45 minutes and deservedly took the lead via Harrison Reed's drive from the edge of the box.
Gerrard's side threatened to mount a revival in the early stages of the second-half but those hopes were emphatically derailed when Douglas Luiz was sent off for violent conduct. The Brazilian midfielder was shown a straight red for throwing his head towards Aleksandar Mitrovic's face.
