Kris Boyd reckons a Rangers return for Steven Gerrard would be a non-starter. The former Ibrox manager's sacking from Aston Villa and Giovanni van Bronckhorst's increasingly precarious situation has prompted social media speculation over a potential comeback.
Gerrard won Rangers the Premiership title in 2020/21, stopping Celtic clinching 10 In A Row in the process, before departing midway through the following season, a decision badly received by a section of supporters.
But his stint at Villa lasted just 11 months and he was sacked following a 3-0 thumping from Fulham last week. Boyd insists he's keen to see Gerrard back in management as soon as possible but has written off the prospect of a second stint in Glasgow because he thinks the former Liverpool captain's work at Rangers is very much done.
Asked if it was a possibility, Boyd told Sky Sports: “No, I don’t think so. I think Steven has come up and done the job he needed to do in Scotland.
