State Pension payment warning as 150,000 people fail to claim retirement boost worth £5,200

State Pension provides essential financial support every month for around 12.6 million people across the UK, including 981,399 Scots.

This regular paymen t is available for those who have reached the UK Government’s eligible retirement age, which is now 66 for both men and women.

However, recent analysis suggests around 150,000 people are missing out on claiming credits which could increase their UK State Pension allowance during retirement.

A Freedom of Information (FOI) request by Quilter found that just 5,209 people claimed Carer's Credit in 2020, a drop from 6,489 in the previous year.
