Netflix has acquired the rights to Spider-Man: Far From Home star Jake Gyllenhaal's new movie The Guilty. Based on the Danish Sundance drama Den Skyldige, the thriller follows 911 call operator Joe Bayler (Gyllenhaal) as he tries to save someone he thinks is in danger over the phone.

Over the space of a few tense hours, Joe realises that not everything is as it seems though, and that facing some uncomfortable truths is the only way out.

Antoine Fuqua, who directed Gyllenhaal in boxing drama Southpaw back in 2015, is on board to helm the picture, while True Detective creator Nic Pizzolatto has penned the script.

Gyllenhaal will act as executive producer under his Nine Stories banner. "I couldn't be more excited to work with Antoine again,".
