Spain tourism restrictions to last until end of year in blow to Brit holidaymakers

The Spanish government has announced it isn't expecting tourism to "get back to normal" until at least the end of 2020 to the beginning of 2021.

Spain, like the UK, is in coronavirus lockdown and has reported tens of thousands of Covid-19 deaths in a matter of weeks. Tourism in the country is huge and 18 million Brits are estimated to visit every year.

But the Minister of Labour Yolanda Diaz said the Covid-19 de-escalation period will likely be done in two phases – and the holiday industry will not be prioritised.

She said officials are working on the next phase of the State of Emergency which will run until at least April 26th. It is likely restrictions will be extended past the May 10th cut off, and Ms Diaz said the government is working
