A doctor tried multiple times to get a slot for the 60-year-old father who had a dry cough but was faced with hours of queues.
When the son, who did not want to be named, took over he found the government's website plagued by error messages. He was told the nearest centres were miles away and even contemplated a trip from his Trafford home to Blackpool, Oldham or Liverpool.
