Sign up to our daily Hot Topics newsletter HEREDr Chaudry told Express.co.uk: "Like your body, your hair depends on the intake of nutrients to maintain its health.“As your hair is made of protein, making sure you have enough protein in your diet is the first step to preventing your hair from becoming thin and brittle."In fact, it has been proven that a lack of protein in your diet can restrict hair growth and - more alarmingly - contribute to hair loss."There are some common foods that, if eaten in excess, are not only bad for your health but also your hair.Dr Chaudry explained: "Unsurprisingly, many junk foods can be detrimental to hair health and can potentially lead to hair loss.He lists refined carbohydrates, which includes bread, pasta, pizza and cakes, among the worst offenders."These foods block your defences against stress, and if you’re already facing hair loss due to stress, it may be time to limit consumption," he advised.Carbonated drinks and greasy food should also be avoided, he said.Dr Chaudry added: "If you are currently experiencing hair loss and want to change your diet, the first thing to do is to be aware of the foods that contribute to hair loss and either eliminate or cut down on the consumption of these foods."Did you know.
