Perth ’s Letham housing scheme. Police activated their blue flashing lights after 31-year-old John Phillips was spotted in Tweedsmuir Road.
But he “took off at excessive speed,” depute fiscal Gail Russell told Perth Sheriff Court. He was pursued through several streets on the estate and ran a red light in Newhouse Road.He then failed to stop despite colliding with a Suzuki Swift at a mini-roundabout at the junction with Balgowan Road.His damaged car was traced in Huntingtower Road and a police dog handler was used to try and track him down after fresh footprints were seen in the snow.They led to the back door of his mother’s house in that area - and then led away from it.But he was apprehended later that evening after a tip-off led police.
