Scots student banned from Aberdeen University union for saying 'Rule Britannia' during army debate

British Army soldiers on campus. Elizabeth Heverin says she was handed a two-week ban by the Aberdeen University Students' Association after she quoted the song during an online meeting.

A fellow student complained after they were debating whether to renew a union policy which bans the military from recruiting students on campus, National File reports.

After it was suggested international students might have concerns about the military on campus, the 19-year-old asked: "If the British military makes them feel uncomfortable why did they come to a British uni?"Moments later, she wrote: "Rule, Britannia."First-year history and politics student Elizabeth was barred from all union buildings, debates and services after being disciplined for using.
