Britain could avoid another full-blown lockdown by making everyone over 45-years-old shield, scientists advising the Government have said.
Top scientists from SAGE (Scientific Advisory Group for Emergencies) suggested those older than that age were at greater risk from the killer bug.
If they were "segmented" from the rest of the population then the virus could be brought under control. The idea was tabled by the government advisors but eventually advised against because it was considered unlikely to be successful, Mail Online reports.
