Summer holidays could be cut short and school years split into five terms under plans being looked at by ministers. Education Secretary Gavin Williamson said changes to the school calendar were being looked at by the Government's catch-up tsar Sir Kevan Collins - and signalled that a long-term restructure of the school year was being considered.
Sir Kevan has been asked to draw up plans to ensure the life chances of millions of children aren't blighted by the huge disruption to their education during the pandemic.
