Saturday Night Live aired its first new episode in over a month on Saturday evening and came through with one major surprise right off the top: the night's host was none other than Tom Hanks.
Hanks has hosted SNL several times in the past, but this time was particularly significant. Since Hanks was one-half of the celebrity couple (alongside Rita Wilson) whose positive coronavirus diagnoses may have brought home the severity of the situation for many fans, it was fitting that he would be chosen to help usher the show through its first at-home edition.
