Kind-hearted Rutherglen residents made sure a new neighbour’s 30th birthday was one to remember despite the ongoing lockdown – thanks to a letter from hundreds of miles away.Sophie McShane, of Hillfoot Avenue, moved to the area from Wales last November and had planned to mark her big day with a trip to Prague with her pals, but the Czech mates’ birthday bash fell through as the coronavirus pandemic struck.Despite this setback, Sophie’s mum Mandy Marsh, who lives in the Welsh town of Llysfaen, did not want her daughter to celebrate the landmark occasion on her own, so she sent letters to all of Sophie’s neighbours asking if they would spring a surprise on her special day.Sophie was left stunned when a group of neighbours came out onto the
