Ascot has announced this year’s Royal meeting will be held behind closed doors “for public health and safety reasons”, if it goes ahead as planned in June.
Queen Elizabeth II usually attends the high-profile event, but Her Majesty and other punters will have to stay this summer away instead.
Ascot Racecourse described the decision as an "unavoidable conclusion" due to the ongoing coronavirus crisis. The races, which span from Tuesday, June 16 to Saturday, June 20, will not be open to the public on any day.
