Romain Grosjean's helmet visor melted as the driver sat in the burning wreckage of his car following his horrifying crash, according to a Formula 1 doctor.
Grosjean miraculously walked away from his flaming Haas after he smashed into the barrier at 140 miles per hour on the first lap of the Bahrain Grand Prix.
The Frenchman was helped back to the paddock by stewards and taken to hospital, where he was treated for minor burns on his hands and ankles.
Grosjean has since provided a positive update on his condition, while F1 medic Ian Roberts recalled the shocking sight of the 34-year-old in his ripped-apart vehicle. "He was very shaky and his visor was completely opaque and melted," Roberts - who was one of the first doctors on the scene
