Steve McQueen and Ryan Murphy are set to receive the Gotham Independent Film Awards' director's and industry tributes, respectively.
The two will be recognized alongside actor's tribute honoree Chadwick Boseman and actress tribute honoree Viola Davis, both of whom are starring in George C.
Wolfe's Ma Rainey's Black Bottom on Netflix Dec. 18. McQueen, who won an Oscar for his role as a producer on best picture winner 12 Years a Slave, recently helmed the Small Axe anthology series of five films about discrimination in London's West Indian community, from the late 1960s to mid-1980s.
The series is airing on Amazon Prime Video in the U.S. His other film credits include Hunger, Shame and Widows. Murphy's latest project is the star-studded.
