But in a dramatic turnaround, Jamie Vardy stuck a hat-trick - including two goals from the penalty spot - and James Maddison curled into the top corner to put the Foxes 4-1 up heading into the closing stages.
Nathan Ake grabbed a consolation for the hosts before Youri Tielemans scored his side's third penalty of the evening to pile more misery on City.
