Russia has successfully flown its most lethal fighter jets using robots, according to reports. Leader Vladimir Putin's Su-57's have been flown unmanned as part of a trial by the state.
According to the state-run RIA Novosti, the trial has so far been a success which could pave the way for increased artificial intelligence (AI) warfare.
Putin has made no secret of his AI ambitions in the past, with some experts fearing an AI arms race. His defence minister, Sergei Shoigu, was previously bullish about Russia's AI ambitions.
He said: "Why near future? This is already a reality and being realised quite energetically.” The Su-57 is Russia's first 5th generation fighter jet.
