Rio Ferdinand has torn apart Manchester United's hopes of winning the Champions League in a brutal TV interview.Appearing on BT Sport for their coverage of Man Utd's European clash with Atletico Madrid, the former United defender, 43, blasted the lack of consistency from his former side.

Ferdinand, a Champions League winner with the Red Devils in 2008, claimed that United's poor league form will prove costly."No.

I don’t. I think they’re nowhere near it in the league," slammed Ferdinand when asked if Man Utd can win the Champions League. "Yes, it’s a knockout competition, it’s a bit different, but I see three, four, maybe five teams that I would say are ahead of Manchester United to win this at least. "You need a level of consistency as well to be able to perform, perform home and away, and you’ve got to get the job done.Despite losing just one Premier League game under interim manager Ralf Rangnick, the Red Devils have yet to prove themselves as consistent winners.A shock FA Cup exit to Championship side Middlesbrough was followed by successive draws against relegation-threatened Burnley and an indifferent Southampton.United did take the lead in all three fixtures but found the second period far more unsettling under Rangnick's high-intensity philosophy.HAVE YOUR SAY!
