The 65 year old discussed serious topics such as the coronavirus vaccine and the government's traffic light system with his co-host Charlotte Hawkins, but viewers couldn't help but compare him to comedy icon Alan Partridge.
Scores of viewers compared Richard's presenting style to the fictitious character, played by Steve Coogan, based on a failed broadcaster attempting to revive his career. "I can no longer tell if Alan Partridge is based on Richard Madeley or if Richard Madeley is based on Alan Partridge," one person tweeted.
