evoke.ieLeaving the cinema after watching Spencer I was left asking myself, ‘What did I just watch?’ Going into it blind I knew it was Kristen Stewart playing Princess Diana over the course of a weekend during her life as a member of the royal family.
I expected a film version of The Crown, honestly, I didn’t even expect it to come to the same quality as the Netflix series.
I had seen the first look pictures with that somewhat questionable wig and the only big name attached to the film appeared to be Kristen Stewart.
In fact, I was not holding my breath on this film. However, as I settled in to watch Spencer, so named for Diana’s maiden name, early that morning I was absolutely blown away by this ‘fable from a true tragedy’.
