A restaurant owner has criticised an “arrogant” group of diners who spoke down to and “aggressively grabbed” his waitress while she was working. The customers went on to pay their £1,000 bill, but refused to tip the server. And, the restauranteur has said he will pay her the full amount that the table spent to make up for her terrible treatment.Lee Skeet owns Cora in Cardiff having previously worked with celebrity chef Gordon Ramsey. He claims he was approached by his waitress on Wednesday evening after the incident with six “disrespectful” diners. The group turned up late, drank seven bottles of wine before the first course and were rude. They also grabbed the waitress by the arm while complaining about their meal. When Lee, 35, heard about the incident he considered contacting the lead diner to offer them a refund on the food they complained about.
But, after sending an email – that they never replied to – he changed his mind.In the message he offered to refund them £900, keeping the remaining £100 as a tip for the waitress, but asked them not to return to the restaurant.Part of his message read: "I wanted to firstly thank you for choosing my restaurant for your meal tonight, and I understand you had the biggest bill we've ever had on one table here."Unfortunately, throughout the evening I was made aware that your party's behaviour was inappropriate towards [our waitress], who runs the front of house."She has told me that - as a 22-year-old girl - she was talked down to, disrespected and touched unwantedly by members of your group."He continued: "I have spent the last hour having conversations with her that break my heart, make me feel like a sh*t employer and a terrible dad having my own daughter."Please provide your bank.
