Manchester United and Manchester City have both been linked with a move for Ings this summer and, while Edinson Cavani signed a contract extension at Old Trafford, the latter are attempting to find Sergio Aguero's replacement after his switch to Barcelona.
Despite being sidelined on more than one occasion last season, Ings scored 12 goals in 29 Premier League appearances and his prolific form in front of goal played a key role in safeguarding Southampton's top-flight status.
