The UK's inflation rate rose to 1% in July as lockdown measures in the UK eased further. The Consumer Prices Index (CPI) - which measures the cost of living - rose from June's value of 0.6%, the Office for National Statistics (ONS) said. "In addition, prices for private dental treatment, physiotherapy and haircuts have increased with the need for PPE contributing to costs," said Jonathan Athow, deputy national statistician for economic statistics at the ONS. "Inflation has risen, in part, due to the largest monthly pump price increase in nearly a decade, as international oil prices rose from their lows earlier this year." The move is expected to result in a 1.6% rise in season tickets next year, which is typically based on July's CPI.
