2 million) through the Tennis Plays for Peace exhibition at the US Open. It came after the United States Tennis Association released a last-minute statement announcing that Belarus' Victoria Azarenka would no longer join the line-up after uproar from Ukrainian players.
The US Open staged an exhibition match on Wednesday - Ukrainian independence day - to raise money for the efforts in Ukraine amid the war, inviting the likes of former Ukrainian pros Sergiy Stakhovsky and Olga Savchuk to attend the match while the country's current pros Dayana Yastremska, Katarina Zavatska and Daria Snigur got involved in the fun on court.
More than 20 players joined the match, with Nadal partnering WTA world No 1 Iga Swiatek in the first doubles contest to face doubles No 1 Gauff and John McEnroe.
