Public inquiry set to decide fate of huge Bolton homes that could be demolished

Bolton Council ordered work to stop in 2016.Planners said the houses had not been built to the agreed specifications and were bigger than initially agreed and in the wrong place.The decision sparked a planning battle which went back and forth until the owners of the homes banded together and offered the council a new planning application in 2018 as a compromise.The new plans would have involved knocking down and rebuilding two properties and reducing the size of another at a cost of more than a million pounds.

But they were thrown out by councillors.Now, after Elendra Raja - a representative of the owners of the properties - appealed the refusal, a public planning inquiry will be held.
