A family affair! King Charles III received an outpouring of support from his royal relatives — including all three of his siblings — during his coronation on Saturday, May 6.Princess Anne, Prince Andrew, Prince Edward, all made their arrivals at Westminster Abbey ahead of the king on Saturday.
While Anne, 74, and Edward, 59, were in full royal regalia, Andrew arrived at the coronation in a morning suit. (Amid fallout from his 2019 sexual assault lawsuit, Andrew, 64, was stripped of his military and royal titles after being accused of sexually assaulting Virginia Giuffre when she was a teenager.
The prince denied the allegations and the lawsuit was settled out of court.)Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice — Andrew’s daughters with ex-wife Sarah Ferguson — walked into Westminster Abbey alongside their cousins Zara Tindall (Edward and Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh‘s eldest daughter) and Prince Harry, who appeared jovial. (The Duke of Sussex, 38, was also dressed in a morning suit, after he was stripped of his military titles in 2020 after stepping down from his position as a senior royal.) The Archewell cofounder sat in the third row of the ceremony behind his aunt and uncles.Charles, who is the eldest child of the late Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, took over the British monarchy in September 2022 following the death of his mother.
Three months before her death at age 96, Elizabeth celebrated her Platinum Jubilee after ruling for 70 years.While the king ascended the throne last year, it isn’t until the coronation that he will officially be crowned of the U.K.
