Sign up for the latest from M.E.N. political editor Jennifer WilliamsBoris Johnson will make a televised address tonight outlining the next steps to tackle the rise in coronavirus cases.It comes after the Prime Minister said there was "no question" that tougher measures needed to be brought in to curb the spread of the new highly transmissible strain of coronavirus.A spokesperson for the Prime Minister said: “The spread of the new variant of Covid-19 has led to rapidly escalating case numbers across the country.“The Prime Minister is clear that further steps must now be taken to arrest this rise and to protect the NHS and save lives.“He will set those out this evening.”Parliament will be recalled to sit on Wednesday, Downing Street.
