Bruno Fernandes

Bruno Miguel Borges Fernandes (born 8 September 1994) is a Portuguese footballer who plays for Primeira Liga club Sporting CP and the Portugal national team as a midfielder. Fernandes started his career at Serie B side Novara Calcio and soon featured for Udinese and Sampdoria in Serie A.

In 2017, he signed with Sporting CP where he established himself as one of the best players in the Primeira Liga. He was named the LPFP Primeira Liga Player of the Year in both 2017–18 and 2018–19. In the latter season, he also helped Sporting win the Taça de Portugal. A senior international since 2017, Fernandes represented Portugal at the 2016 Summer Olympics and 2018 FIFA World Cup.

Premier League confirms VAR made wrong calls on Man Utd penalty and Tottenham shout

The Premier League has admitted there was incorrect VAR decision in each game on Thursday night - including the penalty which set up Manchester United's victory.

United and Southampton were both awarded penalties in their games which top-flight bosses confirmed should have been overruled by VAR, while Tottenham were denied a spot-kick which the league said should have been given.

Bruno Fernandes gave United a platform for a fifth successive victory in all competitions when he fired home from the spot to set his side on their way to a 3-0 win at Aston Villa.

Fernandes had been awarded the penalty after Ezri Konsa was adjudged to have fouled him, but replays showed the midfielder had trodden on his opponent.
