The Premier League has no plans to introduce a Rooney Rule in an effort to increase the number of BAME coaches according to its chief executive Richard Masters.
The lack of diversity of senior figures within football has been highlighted recently. Manchester City's Raheem Sterling, who has been a leader in the fight against racism, spoke on BBC's Newsnight about the lack of role models in positions of power.
The Rooney Rule, which sees at least one BAME candidate interviewed for each senior coaching role, is enforced within the NFL and is now being used by the FA and the EFL.
But Masters admitted introducing such a rule is not on the agenda despite it being discussed in the past. He said: “So far we haven’t discussed it.
