Premier League clubs have approved a new rule that will see them able to use five substitutes in their remaining matches this season.
The rule - which has been in place in Germany's Bundesliga since the restart of their season last month - is seen as helping to ease the demands of fixture congestion on squads who face playing matches in a short space of time.
The season is still on track to resume on June 17 when Aston Villa will face Sheffield United at Villa Park and Manchester City will host Arsenal at the Etihad Stadium.
