A policeman has been charged with murder following the fatal shooting of Rayshard Brooks. Garrett Rolfe has been hit with felony murder and ten other charges following the killing at a fast food parking lot in Atlanta, Georgia, last week.
Prosecutors allege Rolfe kicked Mr Brooks as he lay dying on the ground as another officer stood on him. The death of Brooks heightened racial tensions in the United States following protests over police brutality.
Rolfe was fired the next day after surveillance video showed his actions. He now faces life in prison or the death penalty if convicted.
Devin Brosnan, another white officer who was on the scene, will cooperate with prosecutors, Fulton County District Attorney Paul Howard told a news conference.
