Greater Manchester Police believes a man on a motorcycle fired shots at men exiting a taxi, in broad daylight, before fleeing the scene.

The victim was rushed to hospital with serious injuries. A number of other police cordons were put in place across Oldham in connection with the incident - on Mortimer Street, the junction of Bower Street and Gould Street, and Huddersfield Road - while armed police were seen on Almond Road.

In an update issued this morning, GMP says a 19-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. He remains in custody this morning (Friday).
