Police have arrested two teenagers following a series of robberies linked with fake Facebook Marketplace listings. GMP detained the 17-year-olds in Longsight and Levenshulme today during an early morning warrant on Sunday, January 26.

The teenagers were arrested on suspicion of robbery and public order offences following a series of reported robberies linked with ads claiming to be selling bikes on Facebook Marketplace.

GMP say they have been investigating reports of three separate incidents in the South Manchester area between Friday, December 20 and Tuesday, January 21.

Members of the public had arranged to meet up with online sellers claiming to have a bicycle for sale. But on each of these occasions, the victims reported being assaulted, with one receiving serious injuries and needing hospital treatment.
