Marina Picasso, the artist’s granddaughter.When Picasso died in 1973, he left some 45,000 works of art worth hundreds of millions but no will.
The inheritance was divided between four children from three different mothers, and as Marina’s father, Paulo, and older brother, Pablito, died shortly afterwards, she became a beneficiary.
It then took a battery of lawyers six years to divide the spoils, with disputes between the factions lasting well into this century.For 28 years, Marina employed the Swiss art dealer, Jan Krugier, to make disposals on her behalf.
