pet to the vet for medical treatment has been banned from keeping animals for a year. Shocking pictures showing how Lawrence Hughes’ dog Tara was suffering from massive hair loss and an ugly skin rash were shown in court before a sheriff ruled that the accused was unfit to look after animals.

When Hughes first pled guilty in March this year to neglecting his dog Sheriff Martin Edington ordered the 64-year-old to give away his pet cat to someone who could look after pets better.

Hughes, of Livingston, West Lothian, admitted failing to provide adequate care and treatment for his sick dog between 27 September and 25 October last year.
