In Palm Springs they do it all a little differently. Not including acting or directing! Janelle Monáe has been set to receive the Critics Choice Association’s SeeHer Award, an honor that will be bestowed next month during the 28th annual Critics Choice Awards. She joins Jeff Bridges, who earlier this month was tapped to receive the group’s Lifetime Achievement Award at the ceremony.

Brendan Fraser will receive the Spotlight Award, Actor at the Palm Springs Film Festival’s awards ceremony, taking place in person at the Palm Springs Convention Center on January 5. The award comes in recognition of the actor’s performance in the critically acclaimed A24 drama The Whale from filmmaker Darren Aronofsky.
